Clay pots or plastic for overwintered plants?

 I scarcity to plant perennials in pots in the grass and let it sit for a few years in organizing in zone 5. I am informed that I can do that with plastic pots, but the clay work seamlessly? Who is recommended in clay or plastic?

 I've got a great amount of clay dug up from my garden. Basically, I privation to know how to make my own clay pots/sculptures/what have you with the clay in my yard. Thanks!
Please note that I desire to know if water/clay-organize-out-of-the-yard, sculpted and baked in

I may not be brain you correctly, but if it is a terracotta-exemplar pot you are looking for, ask for a "Fern" pot. These are more unimportant in value, so you get the breadth without amazingly maximum. Mine is the biggest I could find, 10diametre to 5inches in climax.
