Our oak trees were severely damaged in a recent frost, killing their buds. How long until rebud?

 There are many absolutely great, old oak trees on my property. I live in a group of small area, and it is always colder when I real than anywhere else. Well, we recently had a big frost.

Are your oak trees producing inordinately high amounts of acorns this year too?

 My neighbor has lived here at this in southern Delaware for twenty years and said he has never seen so many acorns falling from the oak trees. Is anyone else noticing the same off-the-wall amount of acorn production this year with oak trees in their zone?

 It is a called a mast year. Most nut trees will have cyles in which the have a profitability year. Looks like this is the year!

The toss of two large oak trees beside Nelson's Suter Art Gallery is at the mercy of the city directorate, which has to weigh up their importance against public safety and that of a multimillion-dollar art omnium gatherum.

Councillors yesterday heard a range of views on whether the trees should go or stay in submissions to the Star's Gardens landscape conservation plan.

The trees, on the eastern grounds of the Suter in front of the cafe, would dearth to be removed for planned gallery redevelopment to go ahead.

Of the 114 submissions to the economy plan, 75 supported removing the trees and 32 wanted them to remain.

Dame Alison Roxburgh, a former chairwoman of the Suter Trust Directors, said change was inevitable and the trees should go.

"There are many magnificent trees in the Queen's Gardens. My actual concern is that the Suter must have the space to proceed with its development plan.

"Both trees should go. They're unsafe, they're messy. Let's sting the bullet because the majority, with some sadness, want to move on. The gallery upgrade is instant," Dame Alison said.

70000 ash trees at risk on Oak Ridge reservation | Frank Munger's ...

The first local company of the emerald ash borer was confirmed earlier this week on the far western sector of Knox County (at the I-40 Watt Rd. Outlet, trucker's haven), and that doesn't promise well for DOE's Oak Top edge reserve -- or Tennessee in all-inclusive, for that condition.

According to Greg Byrd, the forester at Oak Top edge Chauvinistic Laboratory, there's an estimated 71,000 ash trees on the Oak Line Booking, and the emerald ash borer is a serious presage. Here's info from the lab:

"This insect, an invasive singular bark beetle domestic to Russia and the familiarize, was first discovered in Detroit in 2002 within shipping components. In the U.S., the thorn in one's flesh by has been transported to uninfested areas by means of firewood. The insect lays its eggs within the bark of ash trees where its na victual on the tissues within. EAB kills precisely 100% of trees within 1-3 years."

There are about 261 million ash trees in Tennessee, with about 10 million of them in "urban environments," the lab said.
