JCC Holds Commemorative Tree-Planting Ceremony
Arbor Day and to sanctify the name of Jamestown Community College as a College Campus Tree France, TLC has organized a tree planting ceremony on April 29 faithful.
The national celebration of Arbor Day, which began in 1872, is traditionally held the last Friday of April.
The episode includes the planting of striped maple, Black Tupelo, Katsura, Kwanzan Flowering Cherry, Redbud, Hackberry, Turkish filbert, Perkins-Rose Yellow-wood, Tradition River Birch, Japanese Lilac, Korean Mountain Ash, Sassafras, and Bloodgood London plane trees.
JCC honors students helped to plant trees.Many of these students are interns at Forecon, Inc., where they are working on an update plan tree JCC surveillance.
The tree designation of Campus France, which was awarded by the Arbor Day Foundation at the JCC in 2010, signifies allegiance to a college campus in forest management and environmental stewardship. JCC was the first community college in New York to be named a Tree Campus USA college.
